2012 - Groundwater Geochemistry and Reactive Transport Modeling

LINKS MAY HAVE EXPIRED!

Topics:

- Advanced topics on groundwater geochemistry

- State‐of‐the‐art reactive transport models to simulate and understand coupled flow and biogeochemical processes in groundwater

- Combining theory and models to improve our understanding of groundwater quality: Case studies

- Hands‐on experience with PHREEQC and PHAST

The objectives of the course are; (1) to introduce advanced topics on groundwater geochemistry and (2) to use the state‐of‐the‐art reactive transport models to simulate and understand coupled flow and biogeochemical processes in groundwater. The course will be a mixture of lectures (theory), case studies, and hands‐on modeling using public domain software.

It is the goal to bring together PhD students from different disciplines thereby bridging areas like hydrology and geochemistry. At the end of the course participants should have become familiar with new advanced topics in groundwater geochemistry and how to apply models to interpret reactive processes in flowing groundwater.
